A lot has already happened that involves the IRS in 2025—from mounting concerns over data security and enforcement overreach to controversial new rulemaking and funding decisions. Our new organization, the Alliance for IRS Accountability (AIA), launched this spring, and we’ve been actively engaged in these developments as we work to enact structural reform within the agency.

It’s clear to us: the IRS is structurally broken. It operates with unchecked power, which has led to unfair audits, overregulation, and abuse of authority that hurt everyday Americans.

Our mission is simple: we must fix the IRS. We want an agency that is fair, transparent, and accountable to the people it serves.

We’ve supported some big taxpayer wins over the last few months:

We helped prevent the largest tax increase in U.S. history as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB).

We exposed Holly Paz's ongoing political targeting of conservative businesses, leading IRS leadership to place her on leave.

We pushed for better 1099-K reporting rules in the OBBB, easing tax burdens for small businesses and gig workers.

Executive Director Chuck Flint has been hard at work, advocating for you—the American taxpayer—featured in some of the nation's premier media outlets.

Our Straight Talk with Chuck series is a no-spin video segment where Flint breaks down IRS overreach, taxpayer abuse, and what real accountability should look like—in plain, straight-to-the-point language.
This Spring, we filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, seeking records to confirm IRS leadership continued to abuse its broad powers to target conservatives, Republicans, and supporters of President Trump.
Through our Abuse of the Week feature, we’re spotlighting real IRS overreach hitting everyday Americans - calling it out, breaking it down, and demanding accountability.
We’re going on national news outlets like OAN, Real America’s Voice, and Salem Media to push for policies that support everyday taxpayers and small businesses. Flint has also been featured in premier outlets, such as Fox News Digital and Bloomberg Tax.
Our three-part podcast cuts through the noise to give D.C. insiders a fast, clear, and accessible look at the IRS’s history of abuse, what’s happening now, and what must change to protect taxpayers.
We conducted and promoted our own polling that confirms Americans don’t trust the IRS, and many fear being unfairly targeted.

AIA believes the agency can improve, and we’ll offer strong policy reforms in the weeks ahead.
