IRS Employee trespasses, threatens to shoot woman’s dog
IRS employee abuses
“For someone to come to my home, threaten to shoot my dog, and call me a criminal – it's absurd. As a law-abiding, tax-paying citizen, I want to see [Allan Burrows] indicted.”
- Katie Pace Quattlebaum
Katie Pace Quattlebaum, an everyday American taxpayer, experienced the shock of a lifetime last year when an unsworn IRS process server trespassed onto her property and threatened her dog. The man, Allan Burrows, falsely claimed to be with the Department of Justice and lied to Ms. Quattlebaum, saying that she was wanted in a fraud case.
After rightfully contacting the authorities, Ms. Quattlebaum was met with threats of prosecution from the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) for allegedly “threatening” an IRS employee, even though it was Mr. Burrows who was decidedly in the wrong. Though this egregious event happened over a year ago, there have been no consequences for Mr. Burrows’ actions. He remains employed by the IRS, and taxpayers—including Ms. Quattlebaum—continue to fund his paychecks.
AIA is appalled at this outrageous abuse of power. The IRS is supposed to work on behalf of American taxpayers in a lawful, respectful manner, not perpetuate intimidation and misconduct. AIA calls for the immediate expulsion of Allan Burrows from the IRS, and demands the agency reevaluate its operations to ensure that transparency, respect, and accountability are at the forefront of any and all future conduct.
